Taiba Sultana: A Voice for the People.

Taiba Sultana is the Council Member for Easton’s 3rd district in the Easton City Council. She emigrated from Pakistan to Pennsylvania nearly two decades ago, a place she proud to call home. Her children were born and raised here in Pennsylvania. Mrs Sultana knows first hand the problems facing our communities.

“I am passionate about bringing positive change to our community; to ensure all of our voices are heard, for a future that all of our city’s residents can be part of and proud of together!” Taiba Sultana

She came from a working class family.  Her father passed away when she was six years old. Her mother worked at a salon and sewed clothes to provide for her seven children.

In 2010, Taiba and her family were homeless for nine months after escaping an abusive relationship. She then obtain residence in public housing, where she and her family lived for three years.

“Easton welcomed my family and provided us a home to rebuild our lives. As a member of the Easton City Council, I will reflect the compassion we received. I will work to ensure that all of Easton’s residents are safe and able to enjoy a life in which dreams can be achieved.” Taiba Sultana

My experience in education and administration will benefit the city of Easton in significant ways

She also serve as a member of Governor Wolf’s Commission on Higher Education and as a member of the College Textbook Policies Advisory for the Pennsylvania State Board of Education. Through these positions she has developed connections with many of our elected officials in Harrisburg.  I use those contacts to be a relentless advocate and voice for our city to make sure we get the funding and assistance we need.

I is working to guide our city toward a brighter future. She amplify the unheard voices of our community because she value cultural diversity and believe it is what makes our country great.

Mother + mentor…

I am a dedicated wife and a loving mother. As a mother of children attending public schools, and as a former employee of the school district, I am passionate about school safety and deeply committed to supporting and strengthening our public education system. This is why I was appointed to the Commonwealth Commission on Higher Education and board of text book policies advisory.

I am Vice-Chair of Northampton Democratic Party and committee person of Easton Democratic committee. In this role, I go above and beyond my duties --I have been actively working to involve young people in the political process and elect qualified candidates for public offices in Northampton and through the state of Pennsylvania.

I am determined, decisive, confident and hardworking. Among my peers, I am considered a tireless community organizer and a progressive activist who has invested time and energy to serve the community.

As an activist + champion…

I have been involved with many campaigns and political organizations. I have extensive knowledge of political activities and have maintained a focus on current political issues at the local, state and national levels.

I am an executive member of the International Youth General Assembly and have been invited for international youth conferences as delegate and speaker. I am a member of Emgage PAC and the advisory council of the PAK Political Action Committee (PAC), where I work with the board and staff members on various programs.

As a business owner…

I am a former restaurant owner and CEO of Phillipsburg Mini Mart. In those experiences, I learned skills in business administration and management. I know how important small businesses are to a community, what they need and how our city government can help them grow and thrive.

My goal is to help build a city where all residents are valued and encouraged to participate in the democratic process, live in a healthy environment, and have access to quality jobs and housing.
